With the Atlantic Ocean on the east and Barnegat Bay on the west, Bay Head, New Jersey, located three miles east of Brick, New Jersey, with a population of 1,238, is referred to as the “Crown Jewel” of the beachfront towns running along Barnegat Beach Island. Visitors enjoy its Victorian architecture, stately homes, beautiful churches, inviting antique shops, boutiques, and comfortable cafes and deli’s.
Bay Head is home to cozy bed and breakfast inns and other accommodations, as well, and its 1.4 miles of lovely beachfront beckon vacationers to enjoy the sand and surf. Bay Head is a great place for walkers who enjoy the outdoors, and the town is home to the Bay Head Yacht Club, a private institution founded in 1888 that is one of the oldest yacht clubs in the U.S. and a central point in Barnegat Bay.
There are all types of water sports available on the ocean side of the town, and the bay side is ideal for crabbing, windsurfing, waterskiing, power and sail boating perfect activities for the calmer bay waters.
You can fly a kite, ride a bike on a quiet village street, collect seashells and sea glass, enjoy the wildlife sanctuary, and feast to your heart’s delight at every type of restaurant from gourmet take-out to award-winning cuisine. You’ll also enjoy shopping at over 40 specialty shops!

The office is open 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily in the summer season.
Daily beach badges can be purchased at the Bay Head Improvement Association (BHIA) office on the corner of Mount Street and Lake Avenue. Badges cost $5.00 a day for ages 12 and up. There is no charge for children under age 12. The BHIA office is open from 9am to 4pm daily.
There are no changing rooms or public restrooms, and foot and beverages are not allowed on the beach. However, food may be purchased at nearby stores and restaurants.

You can also take the train from Bay Head station to the Newark/Hoboken, New Jersey area. Life is good in this quaint country village by the sea, where the emphasis is on laid-back fun and recreation.
